Country Estate Duin & Kruidberg, the location in which Restaurant De Vrienden van Jacob is established, breaths out a certain classic substance. The stylish surroundings form a splendid contrast with the cordial, personal way in which you will be welcomed for lunch or dinner. Our kitchen brigade prepares top culinary modern French dishes with a Mediterranean touch, under the inspired guidance of Executive Chef and SVH-Master chef, Alain Alders. Alders: "The combination of the classic allure of the rural estate and a contemporary approach can be found in our kitchen, both in the balance between the classic and modern tones of the dishes, as well as in their presentation. Not only the tongue, but also the eye must be delighted. "Affection and passion for the art of cooking: Alders glows when he speaks about his profession. This also applies to our Maître-Sommelier Sietse van Zanten: "I always try to think like the guest and enhance this with my own professional ideas. Speaking for myself: I like to feel at home in a restaurant. Things must happen from the very beginning, as if you are in a culinary roller coaster and time after time are being surprised. Serving and advising with passion and expertise, feeling for the right distance between yourself and the guest and by doing so, providing ‘tailor made’ service. Our crew, both the waiters as well as those in the kitchen, operate as one solid team, without any hierarchy. That is why we are able to place the guest in a central position and provide a unique total experience for the guest in our restaurant."
The well-established top restaurant De Vrienden van Jacob has gained one Michelin star and is often blessed with rave reviews in leading culinary trade journals. The restaurant can welcome up to 40 guests at one time and is located in the former summer living room and conservatory of the country estate of Jacob Theodoor Cremer, which he ordered to be built between 1907 and 1909 to receive his family and friends. Country Estate Duin & Kruidberg is located in the countryside of Zuid-Kennemerland, an oasis of peace in the busy urban agglomeration of Western Holland’s ‘Randstad’. There are plenty of free car parking spaces available.
Lunch and dining on the terrace
Depending on weather conditions from May up to and including September there is the opportunity for lunching or dining on the adjacent terrace (up to 40 persons). Managing Director Bernard Lensink: "In the past, guests asked us if it was possible to be served on the terrace besides the restaurant. After some architectural adjustments we are now able to give audience to them at the right level. Dining or enjoying a drink on our terrace, with a millionaires view over our classic English garden is a fantastic experience."
